Roaring Forties  [ rohring fawrtees ] 1. The winds between 40° and 50° latitudes in the South Atlantic. The winds were feared, but also important to the ocean trade during the clipper era. 2. The stormy years between 40 and 50 when many experience crises in life. A comfort is that the fabulous fifties often follow the crises. 3.  A band from Umeå, Sweden handling such crises with various success.4. Distillery in New Zealand with the ambiguous slogan "Get the spirit". (The band would be happy if they sent a cask.) Too much of their fluids can cause severe intoxication {roaring drunk}. Exaggerated consumption can also lead to wind and to crisis (see above) and to blues (see 1.below)

Blues [ bloz ] 1.Depressive or sad mood. Emerges from the adjective blue (low-spirited) dated around 1385. 2. A form of music based on the use of the blue notes and a repetitive pattern that most often follows a twelve-bar structure. It emerged in African-American communities of the United States. The blues influenced later American and Western popular music. The lyrics are often about death, broken hearts and other sufferings. Never the less the style is popular all over the world. Strange, isn´t it?
